Frequently Asked Questions

WYSIWYG. What you see is what you get. We do not offer a low introduction price to stimulate
interest followed by bait and switch tactics. We do not suggest extras or upgrades that may drive
the price. We know the door business. We find the finest components available and utilize these
items as standard features on the only product worthy of the Alamo name. You are considering
the purchase of one of the finest forged iron doors available. Our product can be found in some
of the most treasured homes and edifices from New York to Los Angeles. Not to mention the
 middle east, Japan and Australia.

Check out our specifications and compare them to any other door.

How much do your doors weigh?
Average door 3080 can easily weigh over 300 lbs. Double doors with side lights and transoms
can weigh much more. Doors are wrapped in foam, plywood and custom palletized for
a safe jobsite delivery. Arrange for additional manpower or a forklift at time of delivery.

So are they hard to open?
No. We precision install high quality roller bearing hinges; As many as four to a door on heavier models.

Are your doors pre-hung?
Doors are pre-hung in their own tough 14 gauge steel jamb. Some designs require assembly.

How are your doors sealed?
Alamo Designs are weather tight.
All doors come with an installation package that includes:
Kerf-in weather-stripping for the door seal. (not the cheap stick on variety)
Adhesive weather-stripping for the glass panel.
Our special fit door shoe interfaces snugly atop a custom ADA approved threshold.

Are your doors insulated?
Of course. We innovated the injection of a foam product into the door jamb, stiles and rails.
This process provides critical insulation and sound deadening.

How about glass?
We do not supply glass. Glass simply does not ship well with iron doors. In addition, should
there ever be a failure (such as sweating) your interests would be better served by a local
company who could install the glass and provide a warranty.

Our glass panels are fabricated to house most glass thickness. These glass panels are recessed
and practically hidden from outside view. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" tempered single pane glass as well
as 1/2"to 5/8" double insulated are popular choices.

What about door hardware and locks?
All doors come equipped with custom sculpted handle sets. See our growing collection.
A heavy duty mortised Baldwin or Medeco dead bolt is included in addition to a mortised heavy
duty roller latch for door restraint when not locked.

I live in a humid climate.... how do your doors hold up?
Steel doors will always outperform their wooden counterparts; they do not split or warp.
Although our doors undergo an acrylic paint process tough enough to resist the harshest climate;
in extreme climate cases a cursory observation and minimal upkeep can curtail any widespread
issues that would generally render a wooden door incompacitated.
